FOR MONDAY         TODAY’S SCRIPTURE READING:  Psalm 118:1-2, 14-24

“This is the day the Lord has made. Let’s rejoice and be glad today!” (Psalm 118:24, GOD’S WORD Translation)

it's Monday alreadyUgh!!! Oh no!!! It’s Monday already! The weekend is over and it’s time to get back to work. Let me make a preacher confession – there have been some times that in my life that I felt the same about Sundays. I even misunderstood what another preacher meant when he said “It’s Friday but Sunday’s a’comin!”. I remember thinking to myself, “Don’t I know it and I’m not ready to preach again!”

Yet, the Psalmist encourages us to not dread the day before us. Instead, we are called to “rejoice and be glad today”. It matters not if its Sunday, Monday, Tuesday . . . or any other day of the week. Everyday we have is a gift from God. If anything else, we ought to treasure each day because we never know if it will be our last day.

Instead of dreading this day, let us be grateful to know the God who gave us this day. This is another day we have to show our love with our family and friends. If our relationship with others is not the best right now, be thankful that God is giving us another day to reach out to offer or receive forgiveness and rediscover the joy of reconciliation today.

PRAYER:  Thank you, Ever-Creating God, for preparing this brand new day for us to experience fully your love and share that love with others.  Amen.
