FOR THURSDAY TODAY’S SCRIPTURE READING: John 10:22-30
“Jesus answered, ‘I have told you, and you do not believe. The works that I do in my Father’s name testify to me.’” (John 10:25; New Revised Standard Version)
What Jesus did on a regular basis said a lot about who he was. I wonder, if I live in such a way that at the end of this day I would be more than willing to say to everyone I had met,“Look at what I did and come to your own conclusions about my faith.”
According to a delightful story, after being confronted by a pushy evangelist asking whether or not he had “been saved” and had “accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior”, an old farmer calmly replied, “Why do you ask ME such a thing? I could tell you anything. Here are the names of my banker, my grocer, and my farm hands. Ask THEM if I’ve been saved.”
Who should be asked about our relationship with Christ at the end of the day? Any claim to be “a Christian” is invalid until there is someone or something else that confirms that testimony.
PRAYER: May all I do and say throughout this day, bear witness to my faith in you, Gracious Lord. Amen.
