FOR FRIDAY *TODAY’S SCRIPTURE READING: Psalm 107:1-7, 33-37
“Then [God] changed wasteland into fresh pools of water, arid earth into springs of water, Brought in the hungry and settled them there; they moved in—what a great place to live! They sowed the fields, they planted vineyards, they reaped a bountiful harvest.” (Psalm 107:35-37; The Message)
Yesterday, I wrote of those who are hungry and thirsty crying out to God who would hear their cries and offer hope. Here we see how God responded to their cries by settling them in “a great place to live!” Wastelands turned into fresh pools of water offered them a promising future. What happiness and joy is restored!
However, notice that once God has responded with this blessing, those who have been so richly blessed have things to do. They still need to sow the fields, plant the vineyard and reap the bountiful harvest. As we are blessed this day, we are given the wonderful opportunity to cooperate with God’s wondrous creation to bring blessings to all.
PRAYER: Thank you, Bountiful God, for giving us the opportunity to work with you this day in bringing blessings of hope to those especially in need. Amen.
