FOR FRIDAY *TODAY’S SCRIPTURE READING: Titus 2:7-8, 11-15
“So, Titus, tell them all these things. Encourage and teach them with all authority—and rebuke them with the same. You are a man called to serve, so don’t let anyone belittle you.” (Titus 2:15; The Voice)
Titus was being sent to the people of Crete — “a people short on virtue and long on vice” according the The Voice. He was being called to serve and fashion these people into loving disciples – a daunting task. To encourage Titus in this task, Paul challenges him to live the truth and be passionate about doing the right thing. I can imagine Paul saying to Titus, “You da man! You are just the person for this task. You can do this!” Paul tells Titus to be bold, to teach with authority, and not to let anyone belittle him.
I believe we are all are called of God to live the truth and be passionate about doing the right thing. The Spirit of God is saying “You da man!” or ‘You da woman!” to serve another in my name this day. How might you encourage others in their walk of faith? Never doubt that when God call you to a task, God will provide a way and help you fulfill the task – no matter how great it may be.
PRAYER: Ever-Present God, encourage all who are called by You to be faithful in all ways to serve others in your name. Amen.
