FOR SATURDAY TODAY’S SCRIPTURE READING: Psalm 32
“I will instruct you and teach you about the direction you should go. I’ll advise you and keep my eye on you. Don’t be like some senseless horse or mule, whose movement must be controlled with a bit and a bridle. Don’t be anything like that!”(Psalm 32:8-9; Common English Bible)
“Quit horsing around!” — that is one of the messages we get from Psalm 32. Stop living a lie and come clean with God about your life. It’s not as if God doesn’t already know all there is about us. Confession is good for the soul – offering to us the opportunity to be open and honest about who we are, to take off the masks we often try to hid behind, to release us from the pressure of thinking we always must put on a show trying to act as if we are someone else.
Instead, let us open our hearts fully to God and stop resisting the nudging of God’s Spirit throughout the day. Let us trust God fully with our whole heart and know that God will lead us to become more and more what we were created to be – someone who has more sense than a horse of mule!
Prayer: Forgive my foolish way, O God, which tends to spurn your wisdom. Let my trust for you grow each day as I allow your Spirit to direct my ways. Amen.
