FOR MONDAY TODAY’S SCRIPTURE READING: 2 Corinthians 3:4-18
“The Lord and the Spirit are one and the same, and the Lord’s Spirit sets us free. So our faces are not covered. They show the bright glory of the Lord, as the Lord’s Spirit makes us more and more like our glorious Lord.” (2 Corinthians 3:17-18; Contemporary English Version)
The freedom which the apostle Paul writes about entails the transformation of our lives. No longer looking at life and our Lord through a veil, we can see clearly the love of Jesus and how our actions and words may reflect God’s ways. The more we look at the divine glow in Jesus, the more our life will carry that same glow.
This brings to my mind the words of a hymn by Charles H. Gabriel: “More like the Master I would ever be, More of His meekness, more humility; More zeal to labor, more courage to be true, More consecration for work He bids me do.”
Prayer: God of Glory and Grace, take my heart and make it all Your own. Make me more and more like You each day. Amen.
