FOR FRIDAY TODAY’S SCRIPTURE READING: 1 Peter 2:1-12
“ Stop being hateful! Quit trying to fool people, and start being sincere. Don’t be jealous or say cruel things about others.” (1 Peter 2:1; Contemporary English Version)
As we come to the close of another year, our thought often consider what changes we need to make in our lives and what resolutions we might set for the new year. The first verse in the passage would be a great place to begin.
This could be the year we finally set aside the bitterness in our hearts and truly, sincerely offer forgiveness to those who have wronged us. We also need to seriously consider how we might make amends to those whom we have hurt and disappointed.
Let’s resolve to do more than just “stop”, “quit” and “don’t be”. Let’s also “start” new habits of holiness that will lift others up and bring reconciliation and hope to all.
Prayer: Thank you, God of all times, for guiding us through this past year – being presence in the joys and sorrows. Lead us now with your Spirit of grace into this new day ready to be a channel of your love and an instrument of your peace. Amen.
