FOR SATURDAY TODAY’S SCRIPTURE READING: Colossians 1:15-23
“And through [Christ] God was pleased to reconcile to himself all things, whether on earth or in heaven, by making peace through the blood of his cross.” (Colossians 1:20; The New Revised Standard Version)
On this Christmas day, we celebrate the birth of Jesus which brought to our world a vision of peace. We also remember the promise that Christ will come again to fulfill this hope in all its fullness. Until that time, we must learn to wait for God with peace.
Our faith in Christ brings us peace with God which helps us wait patiently but expectantly for his coming again. God’s Spirit is offered to us anew this day as we commit ourselves to actively working with God to make peace.
Wherever you go this day, go in peace and go forth to work for peace. Christ calls us to a ministry of reconciliation and love.
Prayer: Lord, we greet you this morning and celebrate the birth of your loving presence in our lives. Lead us to be channels of your grace and peace. Amen.
