FOR FRIDAY      TODAY’S SCRIPTURE READING:  Ephesians 1:5-6

“Long, long ago he decided to adopt us into his family through Jesus Christ. (What pleasure he took in planning this!) He wanted us to enter into the celebration of his lavish gift-giving by the hand of his beloved Son.” (Ephesians 1:5-6; The Message)

As we gather with family and friends in this season of gift-giving, let’s remember how God has chosen us to “enter into the celebration of his lavish gift-giving.” Think of all the ways we are blessed with the signs of God grace.

Peterson writes “Every part of the landscape, every shift in the weather, every conversation, every person we meet, every book we read provides a different and unique slant on what is involved:  God’s grace activated, God’s grace in motion – in us” [Practice Resurrection: A Conversation on Growing Up in Christ, pp. 62-63].

I’m so excited to see what gift of grace God will unwrap in my life today!

Prayer:  Grace upon grace, You Lord, have poured into my life.  Help me be a channel of your love with all I meet on this holy day.  Amen.
